Gerry Smoot

Smooth Jazz keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist/producer

Born in Owensboro, the industrial, medical, retail and cultural hub of western Kentucky; Gerry Smoot let the elements of his surroundings birth a multi-instrumental musician. Propelled to learn and eager to match his influences: Jeff Lorber, Prince, D'Angelo, George Duke, Art Tatum, and John Blackwell Jr., just to name a few; Gerry was on the “keys” by the age of 2. With more inspirations from Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea, Gerry was playing the drums by age 7, bass guitar by age 9 and having full music recording sessions by age 12. The dedication and passion for music was a born identity. This vision manifested itself when at the age of 15, Gerry accompanied gospel jazz keyboard producer Ben Tankard on the organ. He set his sights high on international exposure with his keyboard accompaniment behind international jazz saxophonist Rob White. “I am blessed to have experienced true musicianship through generations of pioneers,” Gerry exclaims as he discusses his journey to the love of music. Gerry Smoot currently resides in Evansville Indiana owning and operating Key of Smooth Productions where he self-produced his first album “Just For You” in 2012 leading us to a musician's heaven. His musicianship has also landed him an endorsement deal with Diemond Star Drumsticks, the upper echelon of drumstick manufacturers.
